Crowns & Bridges
Missing a tooth? We got you! Dental crowns and bridges are used not only to replace a missing tooth but also to restore a damaged or broken tooth. This is the best restorative procedure that can strengthen and protect the tooth from further damage while improving aesthetics.
When do you need a dental crown?
Dental crowns restore the shape and form of teeth thus giving an aesthetic appearance. Dental crowns also add strength to the remaining tooth structure. They are usually advised in the following cases
- To restore a broken tooth due to an accident or an injury
- To protect a tooth from fracture after root canal treatment
- To cover a discolored, misshaped or badly formed tooth.
- To replace missing teeth through bridge or implants
- To cosmetically correct teeth
TYPES OF DENTAL CROWNS
- Stainless steel: These crowns are ready made and are directly fixed on teeth. Generally, stainless steel crowns are indicated in children on milk teeth and few permanent teeth. These crowns bond well with the tooth making it stronger and durable.
- Metal crown: These are made of strong compounds having gold or platinum and base metal alloys that are strong and much resistant. The only setback is that they are not aesthetically appealing.
- Porcelain fused to metal: These crowns have a metal coping inside with a ceramic coating outside thus giving stronger protection and an aesthetic smile. These crowns can be a good choice for both front and back teeth.
- Zirconia and e-max crowns are metal free and highly aesthetic. They are generally advised for front teeth and can be exactly matched with adjacent teeth.
